With beautiful beaches and natural landscapes worth seeing, world’s most popular Dj’s to listen to and prestige beach clubs to visit, Ibiza is (unfortunately) also well-known as one of the most expensive holiday destinations for foodies.
But, does indulging in the opulence of a luxury location have to break the bank? Contrary to popular belief, you can experience the best of Ibiza by dining smart and we’ll show you how!
Whether you find yourself in a posh villa in Es Cubells, in the picturesque north side of the island or in Ibiza town, there is often hidden culinary treasure just waiting to be discovered. In this article, we’ll explore some unexpensive places to eat in Ibiza, proving that enjoying the finer things in life doesn’t have to come with an extravagant price tag. The following restaurant list will get you to indulge in the local cuisine while savoring the bohemian high life on a budget.
1# SES EUFABIES - CALA TARIDA BEACH

Located on the south-west coast of the island, on the right side of beach of Cala Tarida, you’ll find Ses Eufabies restaurant serving simply cooked, delicious food at very reasonable prices and with the bonus of spectacular sunset views. The origins of Ses Eufabies date back to the 1950’s and in the past, it was a small beach kiosk with a round bar supported by large ceramic vessels ( eufabies ,in Ibicenco). Their Mediterranean cuisine is based on fresh local fish and seafood, however you’ll be able to also enjoy meats, light salads, pastas, home-made desserts and the dish of the day according the season. We highly recommend the Galician-style octopus, Roman-style squid or garlic prawns and the lamb chops. The restaurant is suited for any budget and very family-friendly.
The calm waters of Cala Tarida and its position sheltered from the winds, together with the availability of water sports and all kinds of services make this beach a favorite destination for family holidays. It is the ideal place to spend a full day at the beach with children. 2# El Bigotes - cala mastella

The beach of Cala Mastella is a small enclosed bay with shallow waters and relaxed atmosphere where you can find one of the most local and picturesque restaurants on the island. El Bigotes was established back in 1969 when its founder Juan Ferrer used to prepare Bullit de peix for his friends, with fish of the day, every now and then. These small gatherings soon became large crowds, and this is why for more than 40 years, and for little money, anyone can enjoy a real fisherman meal, in the “true spot”. Although ‘el Bigotes’ has since retired, you are likely to find at the restaurant. The dining-room, under a wooden roof, could not be simpler, but this is part of its charm.
El Bigotes restaurant is popular for its single dish: bullit de peix cooked over a wood fire and served always at 14,30 o’clock. Before that, at 12,30, you can have grilled rock fish and salad. This specialty, which today is found in numerous local restaurants on the island, was until recently a typical dish that was only cooked by fishermen, who prepared it with freshly caught rock fish.
The bullit de peix is served in two phases: first the fish stew, accompanied by potatoes and a sauce similar to aioli; and then the rice, which is usually a dry plain rice, although here they serve it brothy. If you want to taste the famous bullit de peix from El Bigotes , make sure to book your table in advance.

The water is crystal clear and you can relax on the small beach before heading for a nice meal to Hydrogen Beach Bar, an authentic ´chiringuito de playa´.Fresh salads fish and burgers (including a vegan option) are some of the suggestions. A paradise-like place set in idyllic natural surroundings where the cocktails are truly on a level and you can have an affordable meal right next to beach. What else can you wish for? – Oh yes! #5 CAMI DE BALAFIA - SANT LORENZO

Cami de Bàlafia is a family run restaurant that has been for part of Ibiza´s dining scene for more than 30 years. Since the start and despite the simplicity of the establishment, they have gained a reputation throughout the island for offering delicious food at very reasonable prices. The place is located in St.Lorenzo on the way to the Balàfia fountain just next to an orange tree plantation.
Simplicity is at its core-the most loved dishes here are succulent cuts of meat cooked on the huge grill and the famed tomato salad, made of only three ingredients. The restaurant’s terrace is where the magic unfolds – twinkling fairy lights hang loosely from tree to tree, while stars glisten in the sky above – on a balmy Balearic night, it really is the dream. Reserve your table and bring cash as credit cards are not accepted here. The dishes are abundant, although it is advisable to accompany them with potatoes and salad. The wine list is modest, although it has good reds from La Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat and the atmosphere is local as it is often frequented by people from the island, who usually look for quiet places where they are treated with familiarity and without protocols.

Here you’ll be able to taste the absolute best Serrano and Iberian ham, Manchego cheese, cured loin, chorizo and sausages. It is a popular local meeting point and the outside terrace is almost always spilling over with regular customers. It all started back in the 70’s when the hippies and artisans arrived to the island. Many couldn’t afford to pay and offered their paintings in exchange for a meal or a drinks. The founder of Bar Costa, Vicent accepted the deals, and this is how the restaurant got filled with paintings, of diverse artists of the time, all exhibited on the walls of each dining room. Among them, artworks by Antonio Villanueva, Monreal, Pomar, Vicent Calbet, Perelló, Azócar… Vicent, the founder of Bar Costa.
Bar Costa is particularly cosy during the winter time when they light the open fireplace for their guests during winter. Considering that the prices are friendly and that is far enough of the hustle and bustle in the middle of the season, now you know why Can Costa is and will be, an excellent option for foodies in search of local flavours.
